On the Brief Stagnation

Main page news update:

So, in case you're wondering (and I know you are), I do have a perfectly good excuse for a total lack of updates for the past 5-and-a-half months. More than one, actually. First, I've been helluva-busy. Second, I've been working in my virtually non-existent spare time on what may end up being a massive overhaul of the site. I didn't want to mention it at first, but as the days have ticked by and I've kept noticing that the last update on here was from June, I figured I ought to say something. So here it is. :P

Obviously there have been a few blog posts since June, so the whole five month thing doesn't quite apply to the blog. But the point remains. Sue me.

Well, at least you're not dead. That's always something.

<.< Talk about beating your head against a brick wall... You can present all the evidence and sound logic and undeniable and incontrovertible proof in existence, but if it doesn't jive or fall exactly in line with what they want to believe (or even if they don't think it falls exactly in line, 'cause I've seen people like that chew out others who were agreeing with them because they misinterpreted what the other person was saying), they'll still pop laxatives like penny candy and shit all over it.

Some would hesitate to call the teaser great, but I'm reserving judgment until I actually see the film.

I don't have huge problems with the trailer . . . a ground-built starship is not an impossibility. In a world where starships have thousands of g of acceleration available, and where two guys with handheld antigravs can easily pick up half a ton, building a ship planetside is not totally without merit.

But still, I'd think it easier to simply pressurize a large volume within a starbase if a shirtsleeve environment was desired.

Yea, but the men building the ship looked like they belonged in a factory from decades ago...

I didn't really have much problem with the teaser, either. It certainly sets the mood for Trek, and it is far too early an hour to try and infer any details about the movie from it. Look at the FC teaser, and the use of Voyager in place of the Enterprise, after all.

Teasers rarely contain content that is in the movie. You guys are thinking of a trailer.
